David Munoz
Clinical specialist working for Genentech
David is 32 years old, married to Shannon for almost five years now, father to Aubrey who is 16 months old and Lord willing another baby girl in June of 2012. David and Shannon have known each other since 5th grade and feel extremely blessed to be married and in the center of God’s will for their lives. They are currently in the baby phase of their lives and could not be more excited about Aubrey and her development; they think she is well advanced at this stage of her life with no bias of course. Their prayer right now is that God prepare Aubrey to be a big sister, loving, encouraging and a best friend to her future little sister and for them wisdom to love both children in a manner that reflects Christ’s love.
Currently David works for the Biotech company Genentech where he is a territory sales representative in Orange County. David feels God has him in this industry to be constantly in contact with the physically sick and their medical staff to share the hope of Jesus Christ and the true healing that a relationship with Christ can bring.
Athletically, David is passionate about playing, teaching and watching sports. David played 4 years of baseball and soccer in college, mostly at Biola University. While at Biola he was a part of 3 GSAC championship teams and the 2001 team that made an appearance in the college world series in baseball as well as 1 GSAC championship team in soccer. For David’s senior year God opened the door for him to transfer to Cal State Fullerton where he played 1 year of baseball for the Titans. He later played 3 years of professional baseball in the Frontier League fulfilling is dream of being a professional baseball player. Currently, David plays soccer on the weekends, coaches 2 baseball camps a year and challenges his body as a triathlete.
While in college seeking what God had for David’s future, he realized he was passionate about 4 things: Sharing Christ with others, Sports, Children, and helping people get better at whatever he could help with. This is where FCA Baseball fits in, not only is Ben Orr one of David’s closest friends but they are brothers in the Lord and when Ben shared about FCA baseball and how God was using baseball in the SoCal area to brings kids to Christ, improve their game and give them an eternal perspective on life David wanted to be a part of it.
Favorite Scripture Verse:
David’s favorite scripture is Matthew 6:33 that says to “seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness and all these things will be added unto you” and true to God’s character this has been True in the life of David, Shannon, Bear and Aubrey.
Scott Tiffany
Executive Director of the East Whittier YMCA
Scott has grown up in Southern California and has been a YMCA professional since 1991 in the Los Angeles area. Prior to the YMCA, he owned and operated a personal fitness training and retail business in Redondo Beach, after having played professional fastpitch softball for the 'Queen and her Court' 4-member performing softball team.
Sports have always been a love of Scott's. Though his stepfather was an intense professional golfer and went to great measures to drill sports into him, he still came away with the good attributes that come from hard work. Family complications forced Scott to stay close to home after high school and have an unorthodox college experience. As a physical education major in college, he played baseball for three schools including El Camino, LA Harbor (State Champions 1984) and Sonoma State.
With a wife that is also a YMCA professional, and two daughters, Emily 13 and Nicole 10, who have grown up with YMCA values, Scott is proud to say that his family has all given their lives to the Lord and strive to live for Jesus everyday. In about 1997 at Rolling Hills Covenant Church, an opportunity to join the adult chapter of FCA for the South Bay area came to be and Scott has been part of the it ever since. God and Sports together, what ministry could be better! Well, since moving to Whittier in 2004 and joining with the great FCA movement in the San Gabriel Valley, Ben Orr and FCA Baseball have now clinched it! God and Baseball together...even better!
